I've been working in dentistry for a few, almost 15 years. Worked, has worked for Blue Valley Smiles for almost 14 years, and I pretty much do all the financial arrangements, most of them. Meet with patients and try to decipher their insurance. Every insurance is very, very different. I try to steer them in the right direction, and I try to utilize all their benefits to help them pay for the treatment that's recommended and get them nice and healthy and on to the next regular routine cleaning appointment so they don't have to keep coming back for restorative work, because either they've neglected their teeth, or life got in the way, or kids. But I meet with the patients and try to explain their financial options. We do have several options and try to make it easy and less painful to work through that process.
We have options because, not only for some people is the idea of having the restorative work done, but just, how are we going to afford to do this? How is this going to play into our budget? We have a family, we have priorities. And so we try to offer options. We work with a couple different financial institutions, and so they're outside third-party lenders, or lines of credit companies that they have to apply for, be approved, and then they come to us, provide us the information of approval, and then we process it, and then that company then sends them the payback information, so now their relationship with us financially is resolved. They don't have to think about that every time they come in for a visit; they're getting their regular monthly statements with a third party, and it just makes it less anxiety ridden. It's easier on the budget. We offer a 12-month, no-interest policy plan, and they don't have to pay an additional amount for that, and it's spreading it over 12 months, and not having to pay any more for interest. That's awesome for a lot of patients. Instead of dropping $3,000, divide that by 12 months, it's a lot easier. We do try to make that process as easy and painless as possible without too much confusion.
