What is a Veneer?

Veneers can be used to correct a number of dental imperfections, from gaps and crookedness to discoloration and worn enamel. Veneers are one of the most common treatments used by cosmetic dentists.

“Veneers consistently provide phenomenal results for patients who are really serious about transforming their smile. Most people are also amazed at how quickly they can see the results.” -Dr. Todd O’Neil

The veneer itself is an ultra-thin layer of material which is affixed directly to the tooth. The most common materials are porcelain or a composite resin, and veneers generally last anywhere from 10-30 years. With a custom-fit veneer, the tooth can appear whatever shade or shape you desire. Porcelain veneers are translucent and stain-resistant, so they demonstrate the same “shiny” properties as your own tooth enamel. Using veneers, we can transform your teeth into a bright, white smile with beautifully aligned, shapely teeth.

Veneers are completely safe and are actually less invasive than most other treatment options, such as crowns or implants, because the veneer is placed directly over your existing tooth structure. Traditional veneers do require that the original tooth structure be reduced in size by about 0.5mm, but often another option can be used where there is very little to no alteration of the tooth structure. These veneers are about the thickness of a contact lens.

Are Veneers the right choice for me?

The first step is to come in for an examination.  Here the doctor will be able to learn a bit more about what you’re looking for and take a look at the current position of your teeth. Then together, we’ll figure out if veneers are right for accomplishing your goals. We’ll also talk about the desired shade and brightness, so that your smile is a brilliant, glowing white.

How much does it cost?

If you come in for an examination and consultation with the doctor, we can give you a much better idea of the costs involved with your specific and individual needs. We also accept Care Credit and you may wish to apply for a Care Credit Card here.
